![]() I will post some pics tomorrow of how I intend to make this all work if I can. Waterproof and hopefully the crazy good wear properties of the Sunbrella will equal a long life. When the roof is open, the fabric is pulled tight and is flush with the wall at the bottom and the upper section is covered by the roof overhang. We made the frame so that there is a structure to screw into for this purpose. The top section will be attached to the roof with the same 1" aluminum but mounted up and bent in an inverted "L" shape and screwed into the underside of the roof. These will be face mounted and counter sunk with the fabric captured behind. My roof overhangs the side walls by about 1/4 inch on all sides giving us enough room to attach the fabric directly to the sides with a 1" strip of aluminum and a crapload of SS screws to hold it in place. I have a friend of a friend who is going to be doing this for me, he works in the marine industry doing upholstery and making custom covers etc.Īnyhow, he was talking back and forth with the guy who helped me with my camper build, and the way we decided to attach the fabric is under the roof, and to the sides of the camper. This is some heavy duty waterproof UV rated stuff used for wind dodgers, covers and so on for boats. I am going to be using Marine Sunbrella fabric. and I am just about to jump into the fabric game on mine as well. sounds like a cool project! One that I am very familiar with actually. If you add the make, model, and year of your camper to your signature line, it helps the rest of us answer questions.Hey Czerr. You might want to begin your own thread in this section, using a good subject line, it will probably result in better response than tagging onto an older conversation : It was easier to control condensation in it too. Of the two, I preferred the Sunbrella, because it was more breathable, and folded easier, especially in cold weather. Our second popup had Sunbrella, which is water-resistant, and breathable. ![]() It was a bit stiffer and more bulky than the orioginal canvas, so we had to use care in folding it in to close the roof. The replacement tenting we bought from Canvas Replacements 10 years ago was fabric backed vinyl, so water proof. Starting their long-continuing production of camping trailers since the company’s inception, travel trailers, fifth wheel and motorhomes have been added to the Jayco. We really want to use our camper this season but are currently saving for a house, plus on a teacher's salary that's out of the question right now.Ĭlick to expand. The side wall fabric varies from time to time, and manufacturers. Founded in 1968, Jayco is advertised as America’s Most Livable RVs and furnishes the marketplace with an extensive range of portable, family recreational products. I have an industrial strength machine and moderate sewing skills. Bear Creek seems to be the cheapest but at $925 that's seriously out of our budget right now. I have priced them through Bear Creek, RV Workshop, etc. I have also considered putting zippers in the back corners at least, because it is one huge piece. When open, these tent-like towable campers offer travelers a spacious room to escape the elements. It wouldn't be a total replacement I guess only the fabric parts that are falling apart. Pop Up Campers, also known as Folding Campers, are compact units that feature canvas sides that can be unfolded to reveal additional living space. I have considered ordering fabric, disassembling the old canvas, and using it to make a template for the larger canvas pieces that need replacing. We are not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with Ford Motor Company (Ranger,F-150, F-250, F. The vinyl on top, zippers, and windows and screens are still in perfect condition. The top didn't appear to be in awful condition b when we started cleaning it, we realized it had lots of dry rot and tears very easily. If so, can I see pics of how it turned out? I'm open to suggestions as to the best type of material. Has anyone attempted to sew their own canvas. ![]() I have looked through some of the older posts on this subject but haven't found much recent or relatable.
